In the public eye

I was working in Appleton when there was an altercation with the Green Bay Packers’ Nick Barnett and some women at a night spot.

Altercations happen all the time at night spots. They tend to get a higher profile for two reasons.

1. The level of violence esclates. Like the shooting outisde a gentlemen’s club:

2. The altercaions involve people in the public eye

Either way, night spots aren’t to blame necessarily. But if the level of violence esclates, it’s a problem. Or if you are a Packers player, it’s a problem too … or anyone with a high profile for that matter.

 Is it fair? All that extra attention for those two reasons?

Captain Kegler would cry

Bowling.

It is America’s largest participation sport. I’ve heard that before.

In Milwaukee, it used to be king. Some would argue it still is.

But the U.S. Bowling Congress is done with Millwaukee. It voted today to leave its headquarters in Greenville for greener pastrues in Arlington, Texas.

It’s a sad, sad day for tradition. A sad, sad day for Milwaukee.

Maybe I should start the Wii bowling league and move on?

It was an experience.

Met some nice people in line, as I waited for just less than three hours for my chance at stardom.

They’ll call me, or that’s what they say they are going to do.

Calls may come, they may not. It may be later in spring too.

Thousands of people came in period dress, suits and whatever they could to make an impression.

I got here at least an hour before they were to start and the line wrapped outside and around the building. At least a few hundred people are ready to be extras just like I am.

Well, I have my plan, and I’m ready to go
